چکیده

We consider the numerical simulation of nonlinear multi-body contact problems in elasticity on complex three-dimensional geometries. In the case of warped contact boundaries and non-matching finite element meshes, particular emphasis has to be put on the discretization of the transmission of forces and the non-penetration conditions at the contact interface. We enforce the discrete contact constraints by means of a non-conforming domain decomposition method, which allows for optimal error estimates. Here, we develop an efficient method to assemble the discrete coupling operator by computing the triangulated intersection of opposite element faces in a locally adjusted projection plane but carrying out the required quadrature on the faces directly. Our new element-based algorithm does not use any boundary parametrizations and is also suitable for isoparametric elements. The emerging nonlinear system is solved by a monotone multigrid method of optimal complexity. Several numerical examples in 3D illustrate the effectiveness of our approach.

An Optimization via Simulation approach for the preemptive and non-preemptive multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problems

In this paper a novel modelling and solving method has been developed to address the so-called resource constrained project scheduling problem (RCPSP) where project tasks have multiple modes and also the preemption of activities are allowed. To solve this NP-hard problem, a new general optimization via simulation (OvS) approach has been developed which is the main contribution of the current re...

Implementation of D3Q19 Lattice Boltzmann Method with a Curved Wall Boundary Condition for Simulation of Practical Flow Problems

In this paper, implementation of an extended form of a no-slip wall boundary condition is presented for the three-dimensional (3-D) lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) for solving the incompressible fluid flows with complex geometries. The boundary condition is based on the off-lattice scheme with a polynomial interpolation which is used to reconstruct the curved or irregular wall boundary on the ne...

A multi-objective resource-constrained optimization of time-cost trade-off problems in scheduling project

This paper presents a multi-objective resource-constrained project scheduling problem with positive and negative cash flows. The net present value (NPV) maximization and making span minimization are this study objectives. And since this problem is considered as complex optimization in NP-Hard context, we present a mathematical model for the given problem and solve three evolutionary algorithms;...

A MULTI-OBJECTIVE EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHM USING DECOMPOSITION (MOEA/D) AND ITS APPLICATION IN MULTIPURPOSE MULTI-RESERVOIR OPERATIONS

This paper presents a Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm based on Decomposition (MOEA/D) for the optimal operation of a complex multipurpose and multi-reservoir system. Firstly, MOEA/D decomposes a multi-objective optimization problem into a number of scalar optimization sub-problems and optimizes them simultaneously. It uses information of its several neighboring sub-problems for optimizin...
